Shelter - Global Village Shelter

The global village shelters are low cost temporary shelters that are easily shipped to countries that had undergone a natural disaster. It alleviates poverty by being sustainable in emergency situations and sheltering the people who are left homeless. Since these shelters can last up to 18 months it gives individuals of the area affected a place to live while waiting for a permanent setting. The fact that these shelters are easily transported, low maintenance and low cost makes it very effective for emergencies.

Health- PermaNet
The PermaNet eliminates poverty by providing individuals a greater chance surviving in areas that are infested with malaria mosquitos. The durability and sustainability of the net is effective since it lasts approximately four years by repelling and killing mosquitos. The concept of this design is effective because the durability is long which is essential in places where doing proper laundry and buying new nets is limited due to the high expenses and low income.

Water- Water Storage System
This is a hand-dug, 10, 000 litre plastic storage place for water being accessible during times of shortage. This alleviates poverty because in times of struggle or dry reason, water will always be available for a very low cost. Therefore, if water is always available, the health and economic status of individuals and families will improve, hence their lifestyle will suffice also. Having water available all year round for a low cost means that farmers can increase their income and business status because there will be no drought.

Education- AMD Personal Internet Communicator
AMD is designed to connect individuals (specifically children) without any Internet to an Internet connection at an affordable cost. The connection allows children to have a greater ability to learn and be engaged in world issues. Connecting under developed countries will build and increase the children's educational capability and the possibility of a bright future. In addition, since the Internet is loaded with endless information on just about everything, it will eliminate poverty in the long run since knowledge is power.

Energy- Solar Aid
The Solar Aid device will definitely alleviate poverty by allowing more individuals of any age to afford hearing aids since these are included with rechargeable batteries that are conveniently solar powered, leaving them cost friendly and environmentally friendly. Therefore,new batteries won't have to be constantly bought, leaving individuals with extra money that can be spent on more essential things such as school, health, shelter, etc, without being limited of hearing.

Transport- Big Boda Load - Carrying Bicycle
This bike make alleviate poverty by allowing an individual to carry goods, food, water or humans for income purposes in an environmentally friendly way. The goods, food and water can be transported to certain places for individuals who do not have the strength to transport heavy loads. In return these individuals can pay in money or trade certain goods with the cyclist. The fact that these bikes can also function as a human carrier (taxi) may eliminate poverty because the cyclist can then charge individuals for transporting them to certain areas. This then results in some economical exchange and potential (personal) income.

2) How does stakeholder analysis enable sustainable and socially responsible design?
The stakeholder analysis enables sustainable and socially responsible design by interacting with the individuals of the area, either by taking polls, making questionnare's, interviewing, etc and finding out what kind of problems they are having. Based on these interactions the stakeholder can then find solutions that best fit the area and individuals. Before just dupping a product onto the individuals the analysis allows the stakeholders to figure out if the new design will even work efficiently with the individuals and if it will be affordable. Overall, the analysis allows for a more successful end result of the design according to the individuals' responses.

3) List five characteristics of socially responsible product design:
